Herbarium specimens collected and conserved at the University of Antananarivo, Madagascar.

The primary goal of herbarium of the University of Antananarivo is the teaching of plant identification techniques at the academic level. Nearly all of the specimens stored at the herbarium have been collected by students preparing their degrees (from Master or PhD fieldwork) or by the research team of the DBEV (plant biology departement)during their fieldwork. These specimens come often from remote areas, as botanical studies carried out at this department are usually located in sites where the flora remains understudied. Many of the specimens stored at the DBEV herbarium are unique and rarely have duplicates at other herbaria around the world.
